The 48 is a completely renovated 1948 Spartan Manor — a rare piece of American design history that predates the Airstream and honestly outclasses it. Nestled at the end of a quiet holler between the mountains, it's the kind of place where making a cup of coffee and sitting outside feels like the whole plan for the morning. And that's exactly right.

This is the most upscale of our camper experiences — thoughtfully restored with a king-size memory foam mattress, a full tiled shower bathroom, modern appliances, a cooktop stove, and yes, a tiny dishwasher. Midcentury bones, modern comfort.

Sleeping arrangements:

The outdoor space: The 48 sits on its own private lot, about 100 feet from the nearest house with neighbors completely out of view. You get your own driveway, fire pit, picnic table, and grill. Friendly neighborhood dogs occasionally wander through to say hello — something most guests love, but worth knowing if dogs aren't your thing.

The surroundings: Tucked into a quiet one-way valley between mountains in Fayetteville, with hiking, rafting, rock climbing, and the New River Gorge National Park all within a short drive.
